In the Spring of 2025, we travelled to Huehuetenango, Guatemala to meet Amilcar and the crew at Asociación de la Campesina. While visiting their facilities and tasting coffees from several smallholder farmers that Amilcar works with we came across one of the most delicious coffees we had ever tasted; a washed pacamara bursting with berries, tropical fruits, and dark chocolate from Idain Barrios Escalante's farm Finca Peña Blanca.
Idain Barrios Escalante owns Finca Peña Blanca in Cuilco, an area with many beautiful coffee farms in Huehuetenango. Barrios works to maintain the coffee farm already planted and the native forest of their environment. Coffee growing is his livelihood, and he takes great care to produce quality coffee.
